Throughout the English curriculum the children experience a wide range of both spoken and written language, including drama, poetry and literature. The children are helped to develop their writing skills appropriate to the age. Opportunities are provided for the children to write creatively and use writing to meet a variety of purposes such as recording, report writing and letters.
Reading books gives us many pleasures and is always encouraged at St Josephs. Children can choose books from the library to take home and share with their families. Reading occupies a central place in the school curriculum and we ask families to support this by regularly hearing their child read at home. The school regularly holds Book Fairs, encouraging the children to keep up to date with new titles..
